COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test

Clinical (Human)

Human PCR swab tests directly detect the presence of the COVID-19 genomic material in any individual. COVID-19 PCR Test is the most accurate and definitive test for COVID-19. ALS Malaysia offers Combined Nasopharyngeal Swab & Oropharyngeal Swab kit for medical doctors who are performing this test. PCR swab test for COVID-19 is the gold standard currently for most countries.

Besides the swabs, the Malaysia Health Ministry has approved the use of “deep throat saliva” as test samples for the diagnosis of Covid-19 on 19^th February 2021. ALS Malaysia offers deep throat saliva testing services for COVID-19 detection using a specialist saliva container that stabilizes DNA and RNA long term in saliva sample.

Just 2ml of saliva is required for this test and saliva has been described as a good candidate for diagnosis of COVID-19, showing sensitivity and specificity comparable to nasopharyngeal swabs.

Our saliva sampling device is approved by local authority and suitable for transportation at room temperature not exceeding 30°C within 7 days.
